Job summary

Save the Children in Kannapolis, NC seeks an Assistant Teacher to support preschool learners in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth within a Head Start classroom. You will assist the Teacher in daily activities, help build partnerships with families, and ensure instruction aligns with Head Start standards and best practices.

The role requires CDA or equivalent credential, fluent English, strong collaboration and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must have CDA or equivalent credential or be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of hire.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Head Start Teacher, staff, families, and community partners; maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Engage with children during all activities and supervise indoors and outdoors.
• Assist in planning and conducting activities with Head Start Teacher to meet individual needs.
• Guide and facilitate classroom projects and field trips.
• Maintain classroom management with developmentally appropriate techniques.
• Provide a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment; interact with children individually and in groups.
• Partner with families and participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss development.
