Job summary

Save the Children in Mount Gilead, NC seeks an Assistant Teacher to support preschool operations in Head Start classrooms. You will assist the Teacher with daily activities, help create a safe, nurturing learning environment, and partner with families to promote children’s development.

Qualifications

• CDA or state CDA-aligned credential or be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hire.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start program goals and standards.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; able to follow directions and take initiative.
• Ability to collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to deliver high-quality services.

Responsibilities

• Engage children during activities and supervise learning indoors and outdoors to ensure a safe environment.
• Assist in planning and conducting activities with Head Start Teacher to meet individual needs.
• Support classroom projects and field trips under teacher guidance.
• Maintain classroom management with developmentally appropriate techniques.
• Build relationships with children, families, and the organization to promote learning.
