Job summary

Spectrum 360 A NJ Non Profit Corp. is seeking an Assistant role to support Head Start activities in a NJ classroom.

You will work with the Teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, document child progress, and help with administrative tasks. You will participate in safety procedures, meetings, trainings, and family engagement activities, including Home Visits and conferences, while assisting in daily records and attendance.

Qualifications

• Must have a CDA or be currently enrolled in CDA program or be enrolled in early childhood coursework leading to an associate or bachelor degree. AA and/or substitute certificate a plus.
• Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development. Document observations and individual activities in blue books.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports including attendance and in-kind records and submit monthly in-kind records.
• Ensure the safety of all children by following center safety procedures and reporting concerns to the supervisor.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings, trainings, and parent involvement activities.
• Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement, including Home Visits and Parent/Teacher conferences.
• Any other Head Start task as delegated by Teacher or management

Education

Child Development Associate (CDA)

High School Diploma or GED

Currently enrolled in CDA program
