Job summary

Porter-Leath is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support Head Start classrooms in Memphis. You will assist teachers, help prepare and serve meals, and cover classes when needed to ensure a safe, nurturing learning environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED with CDA (Preschool) or an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Head Start experience is preferred and 1 year of relevant experience is desired.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with CDA (Preschool) or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Head Start experience preferred.
• 1 year of experience with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides classroom coverage and acts as primary caregiver for one group of children when teachers/assistants are absent.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities for one classroom per Head Start standards.
• Assists in meal preparation and serving according to USDA guidelines and family-style dining requirements.
