Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA (Infant Toddler Endorsement) preferred.
• Associates degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Two years of relevant work experience with infants and/or toddlers (0-3) preferred.
• CPR & First Aid certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Health Department standards for food preparation and cleanliness.
• Ability to provide a continuum of care to pregnant women and children birth to 3½ years.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Confidentiality and objectivity in sensitive issues.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to handle heavy workload under deadlines.
• Teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration with staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform according to Head Start, NAEYC, CWLA, CACFP, USDA, Tennessee licensing and Porter‑Leath standards in kitchen and classroom.
• Prep and serve meals per menu and portions; adapt to USDA dietary allowances.
• Serve as primary caregiver for a group of children, including those with special needs when assigned.
• Maintain inventory of food, supplies and equipment.
• Record attendance, meal counts and other reports for supervising bodies.
• Comply with health department and Porter‑Leath food safety requirements.
• Keep kitchen area clean: wash dishes, wipe counters, sweep and mop.
• Model professional behavior and mentor families in program.
• Keep Site Manager informed of programmatic issues promptly.
• Collaborate with staff to provide a positive, enriching, safe environment.
• Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.
