Job summary

Porter-Leath in Memphis seeks dedicated Assistant Teachers to support Head Start classrooms and meals service. You will relieve teachers, assist with enrichment activities, and help maintain a safe, positive learning environment.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED (CDA in Preschool or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred), CPR/First Aid preferred, and experience with infants to preschoolers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and CDA in Preschool or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Head Start experience preferred.
• One year of relevant work experience with infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Relieve teachers during periods of absence and during breaks.
• Assist with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for one classroom.
• Assist in delivering health, nutrition, education and family support services as per program policies.
• Maintain accurate student files/educational records and ensure a safe learning environment.
• Conduct regular home visits and parent-teacher conferences with families.
