Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support the Head Start Teacher in creating a safe, engaging environment for preschoolers. You will assist with instruction, behavior management, and daily routines while fostering school readiness and social-emotional development.

Responsibilities include planning support, lesson delivery, progress observation, and collaboration with families and MRDC staff to ensure program adherence and positive outcomes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CDA credential/associates preferred.
• Experience with preschool-aged children is preferred in an early childhood setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher with planning and implementing lesson plans aligned to Head Start guidelines.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities including play, reading, and hands-on experiences.
• Observe and assess child development; contribute to individualized learning plans.
• Model positive social-emotional behavior and supervise safety in the classroom.
• Maintain organized classroom and support family engagement activities.
• Prepare materials for parent meetings and conferences; collaborate with staff and administrators.
