Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support the lead teacher in creating a safe, engaging learning environment for preschoolers. You will assist with instruction, routines, and behavior management to promote school readiness and social-emotional development.

The role emphasizes collaboration with families, maintaining a clean classroom, and following Head Start health and safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA credential, Associate’s degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous experience with preschool-aged children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher in planning and implementing lesson plans aligned with Head Start guidelines.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities and support play-based learning.
• Observe and assess children’s development; contribute to individualized learning plans.
• Supervise students to maintain a safe and nurturing environment; support daily routines.
