Job summary

OWBC is seeking a Center Director to lead a Head Start Center, ensuring excellent educational development, health, and safety for children while managing staff and operations. The role reports to the Program Director and requires strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and effective supervision.

The position includes duties such as overseeing health and safety, reviewing lesson plans, recruiting and guiding staff, coordinating volunteers, and engaging with families and community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with specified child development and management credits or equivalent experience in licensed child-care centers.
• Two years supervisory experience in a licensed child-care center preferred.
• Bilingual nice to have.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations and staffing for Head Start Center.
• Oversee health and safety per Head Start and licensing policies.
• Review and sign weekly classroom lesson plans.
• Hire, train, supervise, and coach staff, including performance reviews.
• Oversee facility management and compliance with ADA/IDEA and Head Start regulations.
• Ensure positive learning environments and adherence to curriculum.
• Track child outcomes and coordinate with Health staff on immunizations and well-child checks.
• Coordinate volunteers, community partners, and family engagement activities.
• Maintain inventory and supervise waitlists and monthly parent meetings.
