Job summary

OWBC is seeking a Head Start Teacher to manage a 3–5 year old classroom, implement curriculum, and develop lesson plans. The role reports to the Center Director and requires proactive supervision with independent judgment.

Responsibilities include designing engaging activities, assessing child progress, coordinating parent conferences and home visits, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Collaboration with co-teachers and guardians is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Childhood Development or Early Childhood Education or related field with six+ ECE courses.
• Six years of Childhood Development experience may substitute for the degree or combine with an Associate’s and four years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage classroom to foster a positive learning environment.
• Assess and track student progress and communicate with parents.
• Coordinate conferences and home visits.
• Follow curriculum guidelines and plan daily activities with the team.
• Develop individualized curricula including IEP/IFSP goals.
• Ensure safety and compliance with licensing standards.
• Maintain classroom, playground and health reporting.
• Coordinate volunteer activities and background checks.
• Maintain records of classroom activities and child development.
• Support center initiatives with Center Director and CSS.
