Job summary

CAPITOL REGION EDUCATION COUNCIL is seeking a Head Start Assistant Teacher to support planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum for preschool children. You will promote self-esteem, health, safety, and nutrition integration while ensuring a safe and orderly classroom and assisting the lead teacher.

You will help write daily/weekly lesson plans, arrange field trips and home visits, recruit and support parent volunteers, and participate in staff meetings and professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or CDA with related coursework in early childhood education.
• Experience in Head Start or similar program preferred.
• Knowledge of CT Early Learning Standards and Head Start requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
• Provide instruction and care for children.
• Support teachers with lesson planning and classroom management.
• Ensure health and safety of children and maintain clean, organized rooms.
• Assist with parent volunteer recruitment and support in-class activities.
• Assist in writing required reports and forms.
• Help coordinate field trips and home visits.
