Job summary

Save the Children US is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support preschoolers in Head Start classrooms. You will assist the Teacher with daily activities, support family partnerships, and ensure learning experiences meet Head Start standards.

The role emphasizes safety, inclusion, and collaboration with staff, families, and community partners to promote children’s development and well-being.

Qualifications

• CDA or state credential meeting CDA requirements or enrolled in CDA program to complete within two years.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start programs.

Responsibilities

• Engage with children and supervise activities indoors and outdoors.
• Assist Head Start Teacher in planning and conducting activities.
• Maintain developmentally appropriate classroom environment and behavior management.
• Build relationships with families and participate in parent conferences.
• Support health, nutrition and safety practices for children.
