Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Athletics Director, the Head Softball Coach is responsible for providing successful athletic programming to attract, recruit, and retain prospective athletes for the intercollegiate softball program. This total administration and coordination of all aspects of the sport program include a combination of high school events, practices, campus and/or home visits, using technology-based and other successful recruitment methods. Support students in academic areas ensuring success.

The Operations and Events Coordinator manages and supervises all evening and weekend Athletics Fitness Center operations, events, activities and staff. The Operations and Events Coordinator/Head Softball Coach also works with the Director of Athletics with general responsibilities in the day to day operations of the athletic facilities, along with overseeing the set-up of athletic contests and acts as the college representative (site manager) at these events. The Coordinator also aids in the supervising of student workers.

Job Description:

Student and Customer Service 40%
1) Recruit a full roster and maintain a highly competitive intercollegiate softball team.
2) Meet department retention & success of student athletes goals.
3) Organize, supervise, and coach off-season training, in-season training, and contests.
4) Oversee program wide stats and records data entry.
5) Fundraise for softball program.
6) Assist student athletes to succeed in academics and athletics to continue their education.
7) Perform seasonal/off-season duties, including but not limited to: program administration, scheduling, record keeping, attending Skyway Conference and Region 4 meetings as the CLC Softball representative.
8) Perform and/or coordinate administrative travel responsibilities in a timely manner e.g. planning travel arrangements, advances, submitting expense reports with receipt documentation (within the month that the advance was used), transportation, advance travel itineraries for multi-day trips etc.

Department Operations and Procedures 40%
1) Coordinates travel arrangements for all athletics programs, including but not limited to: reserving college fleet vehicles, rental vehicles, lodging, flights, charter services, etc.
2) Serve as the Site Manager for all Athletic home contest & competitions.
3) Serve as the Site Manager for external rentals and fundraiser events that utilize athletic facilities.
4) Coordinates with internal and external groups on set-up and take-down of equipment for facility rental and usage. Serves as event manager for home athletic contests.
5) Assigns lockers for athletic teams.
6) Coordinates inventory and laundry procedures, including but not limited to: athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies. Assists with assessing future needs.
7) Enforces college safety regulations and maintain supervision and security of the Athletics and Fitness Center during the evening and weekend hours. Reports and responds as appropriate to Athletics and Fitness Center emergency situations, such as maintenance problems, injuries and disturbances.

Project Leadership 15%
1) Coordinates the Athletic Department concession stand, including but not limited to: usage, inventory, staffing, and timely reconciliation. Provides the Director of Athletics, transparency of cash funds and inventory counts, and makes funds ready for deposits.
2) Assists with the development, planning and implementation of department fundraising activities as assigned.
3) Interacts with community, external customers, high school and club coaches, and prospective student-athletes to bolster groups on-campus and provide a welcoming atmosphere during athletic events and programs
4) Keeps and Maintains Master Schedule for the Athletics’ Department usage and fleet vehicles in 25pro.

Other 5%
1) Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

1. Associate’s Degree with the ability to attain a Bachelor’s Degree within three (3) years OR Bachelor’s Degree.

2. A minimum of three (3) years of softball coaching experience required.

3. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

4. Ability to continuously interact with public (internal or external). Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel, twist, lift (0-50 lbs), and carry (0-50 lbs) frequently. Ability to climb, carry (50+ lbs) and lift (50+ lbs) occasionally.

Skill Requirements:

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others. Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of students, staff and external customers. Proven ability to work effectively with individuals and teams from diverse backgrounds and professional responsibilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle all situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Previous college softball coaching experience.

2. Previous supervisory experience.

3. Current certification inCPR/AED.

4. Knowledge ofNJCAAeligibility and compliance rules.

5. Bi-lingual in Spanish and English

Compensation:

$56,500 - 58,000/year

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, some Saturdays & Sundays, Hours: Flexible, evenings 11:00 a.m. – 7:30pm; weekends
