Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks a seasoned leader to head Enterprise Underwriting Learning & Enablement. You will own the strategy, governance, and continuous improvement of underwriting training programs, oversee onboarding and trainee initiatives, and partner across the organization to align learning with underwriting standards and evolving business needs.

Qualifications

• College degree required; degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in corporate learning, training, instructional design, or talent development—preferably within P&C insurance or financial services.
• 5+ years of leadership/management experience overseeing learning teams and strategic training programs.
• 5+ years of experience in P&C insurance underwriting or underwriting operations strongly preferred.
• Experience designing learning programs across multiple delivery modalities (classroom, eLearning, video, AI-enabled, virtual).
• CPCU, AU, CPLP, or other relevant professional designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leadership of the Learning & Enablement team, including program leaders and specialists.
• Develop and maintain enterprise learning architecture for underwriting and related functions.
• Standardize training practices across regions, balancing enterprise standards with regional needs.
• Collaborate with Casualty and Property LOBs to translate content into effective learning experiences.
• Design metrics and frameworks to measure training effectiveness and business impact.
• Oversee onboarding, trainee, technical, and change-related learning initiatives.
