Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a capable thrift store manager to oversee Salvage/Thrift Stores operations. You will manage staff, plan budgets, and coordinate transportation and warehousing functions to optimize donation processing and sales, while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of supervisory retail experience. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of production control, planning, scheduling, and budgeting as it relates to thrift store, transportation, and warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of personnel supervision and the ability to train, motivate, and lead staff.
• Knowledge of shop operation, equipment, and maintenance to plan for replacements and additions.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, supervises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates thrift store supervisor staff.
• Trains staff in proper methods and procedures.
• Inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with policies.
• Recommends hiring and firing decisions and conducts evaluations.
• Prepares long-range plans for Salvage/Thrift Stores and develops related procedures.
• Manages budgeting processes and uses approved budgets for department operations.
• Maintains inventory records and production statistics and ensures filing integrity.
• Ensures OSHA and wage-and-hour compliance and safety training.
• Develops fire evacuation plans and internal security procedures.
