Job summary

Children's Rescue Fund seeks a Director of Social Services to oversee shelter sites within the New York region and lead staff in delivering social services and housing coordination.

The role requires strong leadership, collaboration with housing partners, and adherence to DHS/OTDA guidelines. You will supervise supervisors and case managers to ensure service plans promote housing stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field is required.
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience in social services, housing, or emergency shelter.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies and work with a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills.
• Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with housing stability initiatives and working with high-risk families.
• Knowledge of DHS/OTDA documentation policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee housing team and provide motivational, strength-based supervision to meet quarterly placement targets.
• Identify and foster relationships with realtors and property managers to locate and retain housing for families in temporary shelter.
• Facilitate case conferences and ensure development of individualized housing and service plans.
• Promote linkage with other service providers to obtain resources for housing stability.
• Provide supervision to Social Service Supervisors, Case Managers, and Housing Specialists.
• Review housing packages for accuracy before submitting to DHS for review/approval.
• Ensure proper CARES documentation and progress notes.
• Monitor staff and client compliance with CRF, DHS, and OTDA policies.
• Maintain case and agency paperwork to CRF, DHS, and OTDA standards.
• Represent region on DHS conference calls and attend required DHS meetings.
