Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund seeks a Director of Social Services for its Lighthouse location in Long Island City, NY. The role leads the social services team, ensuring compliance with DHS procedures and facilitating rapid permanent housing for clients referred by NYC DHS.

The position requires strong supervisory experience, housing program knowledge, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external providers.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work preferred, or at least a bachelor’s degree is required.
• Five years of social services experience is required, including clinical interventions with families and disadvantaged populations, group work, substance abuse and housing programs.
• For MSW, at least two years of supervisory/administrative capacity; for BA, at least four years in supervisory/administrative capacity.
• Experience with securing client entitlements through housing regulations and homeless programs is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal relations skills, with the ability to establish cooperative working relationships and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure staff have hands-on knowledge of DHS procedures, NYS Part 900 Regulations, OTDA, CRF Rules, and relevant housing laws.
• Collect, prepare, and analyze client/program information to evaluate performance and inform planning.
• Oversee Social Services staff (Caseworkers, Housing Specialists, Supervisors) in CARES use for intake, shelter, service plans, housing, and incident reporting.
• Maintain safe, clean living environments and ensure staff report observations and repairs.
• Collaborate with Housing Specialists to meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly housing targets.
• Develop and implement social service policies with Executive Directors, including relocation strategies.
