Job summary

Pivotal Health is hiring a Head of Security to own and mature the company’s security program from the ground up. You’ll bridge strategy, engineering, compliance, and customer trust, embedding security as a core organizational capability.

You’ll interface with engineering, compliance, and leadership to set strategy, drive risk-based decisions, and protect sensitive provider data and financial workflows. Remote/hybrid flexibility may vary by role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of security experience at senior levels
• Experience with cloud, infrastructure, and application security fundamentals
• Proven track record maturing security programs in high growth environments
• Hands-on with SOC 2, HIPAA or similar compliance
• Strong communicator capable of external representation
• Collaborator who can align multiple functions around security goals
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and building from scratch
• Knowledge of AI/LLM security considerations is a plus

Responsibilities

• Build and own the company’s security program and roadmap
• Define policies, controls, and risk-based prioritization for scalable security
• Partner with engineering to embed security into the platform
• Ensure secure design across cloud, CI/CD, data access, and third-party integrations
• Lead compliance readiness and audit preparation (SOC 2, HIPAA)
• Monitor evolving threat landscape and adapt defenses accordingly
• Represent security to customers, auditors, and partners
• Foster security awareness across finance, operations, and people teams
• Develop guardrails for responsible AI use and guard sensitive data handling
