Job summary

Waymo is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for the Perception ML team. You will lead a group of software and ML engineers focused on perception pipelines and weather-related ML models in a hybrid US role.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, set requirements, and guide staffing and career development while delivering high-impact autonomous driving solutions. The role requires 8+ years in the field and advanced CS credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent; deep learning experience is acceptable.
• Experience managing software engineers and managers.
• Hands-on ML project leadership across teams.
• 8+ years of industry experience.
• MS or PhD in CS or equivalent preferred; relevant publications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Software engineers & ML engineers to deliver perception ML pipelines.
• Develop ML models for weather conditions around a vehicle.
• Collaborate with downstream teams to set requirements and roadmaps.
• Hire and develop talent; build resilient, high-performing teams.
• Drive design of ML solutions with TLs and peers; align with program goals.
• Define team OKRs and plan roadmaps; ensure execution and delivery.
• Make staffing and technical decisions; escalate where needed and deliver projects.
