Waymo is seeking a Perception Machine Learning Engineer to build the intelligent systems that see the world and shape the future of autonomous travel.

Within the Perception team, you will tackle open-ended challenges, design scalable data pipelines, apply active learning, and develop evaluation methods to ensure robust model performance. This hybrid role reports to a Technical Lead Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Machine Learning, Robotics, or Computer Science.
• 3+ years in ML and/or Computer Vision.
• Proven hands-on experience applying active learning in production.

Responsibilities

• Architect Infrastructure: design and scale data pipelines for sensor data.
• Drive Model Improvement: deploy active learning for continuous model updates.
• Ensure Model Quality: develop evaluation methods and detect regressions.
• Optimize Data Efficiency: automated data curation, pruning, and downsampling.
