Job summary

Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company, is seeking a senior leader for the Perception team in a hybrid role. You will help shape how the Waymo Driver perceives the world and works with Planner, hardware, and infrastructure teams to optimize foundational architectures.

You will also mentor engineers, drive production-grade ML models, and impact multi-modal perception strategies across projects, reporting to a Senior Staff Technical Lead Manager.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience in ML, AI or Computer Vision.
• Proven track record of architecting and shipping large-scale ML models.
• Expert proficiency in Python, C++, and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow).
• Demonstrated experience leading large technical initiatives as a Tech Lead.

Responsibilities

• Set the long-term technical roadmap for next-generation multi-modal perception architectures.
• Architect unified, scalable representations across diverse sensor modalities.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives across Perception and Planner with hardware and infrastructure teams.
• Mentor ML engineers and foster rapid prototyping and rigorous benchmarking.
