Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Ocean Engineering Manager to lead the Undersea Systems Division’s engineering efforts, overseeing ocean and mechanical design aspects of acoustic measurement facilities and deployed systems. You will guide a team of ocean, mechanical, and related engineers to help customers achieve their mission.

The role involves delivering on-water execution plans, reviewing complex maritime systems from prototype to installation, and coordinating with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field.
• Experience in underwater/marine engineering and maritime environments.
• Experience with SolidWorks.
• Proficiency with OrcaFlex, MathCAD, Matlab and other analysis tools.
• Experience in undersea hardware system development.
• Ability to work with government customers and teams.
• Analytical and problem-solving, with strong communication.
• Must be able to obtain Secret Security clearance.
• Ability to climb 50 ft, remain alert during long hours, depth perception, drive company vehicle, and transit by marine vessel.

Responsibilities

• Manage Ocean Engineering team including hiring, promotions, retention, and performance feedback.
• Provide hands-on engineering support for production, integration, testing, and sustainment of complex maritime systems.
• Develop on-water execution plans for recovery, deployment, and maintenance of in-water systems.
• Design/review ocean engineering systems from prototype to installation.
• Identify technical risks and develop mitigation and maturation plans.
• Resolve production and field issues via root-cause analysis and solutions.
• Maintain drawings, specifications, BOMs, work instructions and other technical docs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, technicians, and suppliers.
