Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Ocean Engineering Manager to lead engineering efforts in the Undersea Systems Division, focusing on ocean mechanical design and acoustic measurement facilities. The role involves leading a team of ocean, mechanical, and related engineers to support mission objectives and customer success.

Responsibilities include managing the team, providing hands-on support for production and testing, and developing detailed on-water execution plans for recovery, deployment, and maintenance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field.
• Experience in underwater/marine engineering and maritime environments.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and analysis tools (OrcaFlex, MathCAD, MATLAB).
• Experience in undersea hardware system development and collaboration with government customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Ocean Engineering team, including hiring, promotions, and performance feedback.
• Provide hands-on support for production, integration, testing, and sustainment of maritime systems.
• Develop on-water execution plans for recovery, deployment, and maintenance of in-water systems.
• Design and review ocean engineering systems from prototype to installation.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation and technology maturation plans.
• Investigate root causes and implement practical engineering solutions.
• Maintain mechanical drawings, BOMs, specs, and work instructions for the mission.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and suppliers to address challenges.
• Support configuration changes, obsolescence management, and upgrades across the program lifecycle.
• Participate in system integration, testing, and disposition of nonconforming hardware.
