Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior Ocean Engineer to support design and maintenance of underwater infrastructure and sensor arrays within the Undersea Systems Division. You will lead cradle-to-grave system design, build, installation, and maintenance, while guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission-critical maritime solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Ocean Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• 15+ years of experience.
• Experience with underwater/marine engineering in a maritime environment.
• Experience with SolidWorks.
• Proficient with OrcaFlex, MathCAD and Matlab.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Security clearance.
• Physical demands: climb, travel to vessels, and extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, integration, testing and deployment of advanced maritime and undersea systems.
• Apply expertise in ocean engineering, hydrodynamics, underwater acoustics and marine systems to optimize performance.
• Mentor multidisciplinary teams and guide system design decisions.
• Plan analyses, modeling, simulations, and sea trials to validate performance and reliability.
• Drive innovation in underwater technologies including autonomous systems and sensor networks.
• Collaborate with managers and customers to translate requirements into cost-effective solutions.
• Lead investigations and design improvements across the product lifecycle.
