Job summary

The Personnel Consulting Group is seeking to build and lead the first in-house HR function for a Baton Rouge-based construction products company. This role partners with executive leadership to shape day-to-day administrative operations and HR strategy.

You will design policies, lead recruitment and onboarding, manage benefits, timekeeping via UKG, and drive staffing for a new facility, while supporting the CEO and expanding the regional footprint.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience in industrial contexts (construction, heavy civil, manufacturing, logistics).
• Ability to design and implement HR programs, pipelines with minimal guidance.
• Experience hiring, onboarding, and retaining industrial and skilled labor.
• Hands-on, doer mindset with ability to execute and support admin work and strategy.
• Strong business acumen: contracts, executive partner relationships, and handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Establish and lead an in-house HR department with policies, workflows, and employee handbooks.
• Design and run performance evaluation cycles and Improvement Plans.
• Be the HR resource for on-site employees and third-party site personnel.
• Own benefits administration and open enrollment (Health, Dental, Vision, STD/LTD, Life).
• Partner with a third‑party PEO/payroll provider (UKG) and time-tracking systems.
• Lead full-cycle recruiting and onboarding for skilled trades and general labor roles.
• Drive staffing for a new operational facility (15–20+ hires in 12 months).
• Provide high-level administrative support to the CEO and leadership team.
• Support vendor relationships, contract execution, and admin workflows tied to assets.
• Manage subordinate administrative or safety personnel as the company expands.
