Job summary

BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING in Blacksburg, VA seeks a Department Manager for Environmental Due Diligence and Compliance. You will lead a high‑performing team, manage complex due diligence projects, and coordinate regulatory compliance across multiple sectors.

Onsite leadership and client engagement are key. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in geotechnical or environmental consulting, strong project management, and professional registration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related technical discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical and/or environmental consulting with leadership and project management
• 3+ years of team leadership or management experience
• Professional registration (PE, PG, CHMM, or similar) strongly preferred.
• Advanced understanding of federal and state environmental regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA)

Responsibilities

• Lead the Environmental Services Department with a focus on due diligence and compliance service lines.
• Supervise, mentor, and support a team of environmental professionals across multiple project types and experience levels.
• Oversee workload allocation, training, performance reviews, and hiring.
• Promote technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous professional development.
• Oversee the execution and quality of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and transactional due diligence.
• Manage client relationships, business development, and project profitability.
