Job summary

State Street Investment Management is seeking a Global Head of Architecture and Engineering Governance to oversee enterprise-wide governance across architecture and engineering. You will define guardrails, ensure platform reuse, and enforce SDLC controls aligned with regulatory standards.

The role reports to the Global Head of Business and Technology Architecture and supports a PPS operating model with AI-enabled governance. Strong executive communication will be essential.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, engineering leadership, or large-scale technology governance in regulated environments.
• Proven track record leading architecture and engineering governance across complex, global organizations.
• Deep expertise in platform-based architecture and enterprise-wide technology standardization.
• Strong understanding of modern SDLC models, engineering practices, and governance controls in cloud and distributed environments.
• Experience embedding risk, security, and resilience into architecture and decision-making.
• Experience in matrixed, multi-function architecture organizations with clear roles and decision boundaries.
• Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder influence skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/ MSc strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise architecture and engineering governance framework across business-aligned solution design, platform usage, SDLC controls and delivery assurance.
• Establish decision rights, governance forums, and escalation models across Architecture and Platform Engineering teams.
• Act as the enterprise authority for architectural and engineering compliance balancing delivery velocity with risk.
• Govern platform-based architectures, ensuring reuse, interoperability, and scalability.
• Define architecture principles, reference architectures, and guardrails guiding teams.
• Lead governance for AI-enabled software delivery including controls for responsible AI in CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with Risk, Security, Compliance, Audit to embed governance into the technology lifecycle.
