Job summary

General Motors Embedded Software organization seeks an Engineering Group Manager to lead our Software Architecture team. You will drive the architecture strategy across vehicle domains, energize a team of deep technical experts, and align cross-functional stakeholders to deliver on ambitious software goals.

You will champion governance, KPI/OKR programs, and a culture of continuous learning while steering our shift from auto manufacturer to tech company. This hybrid role is based in Milford, MI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 7+ years experience in Embedded Control systems and Software Architecture.
• 4+ years of direct leadership experience, building and delivering with high-performing teams.
• Experience guiding embedded controls and software architecture, shaping strategy and governance, KPIs/OKRs.
• Strong knowledge of interacting embedded systems, safety-forward design, and cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 12-15 Software Architecture Engineers and Technical Specialists to shape the organization's Software Architecture strategy.
• Establish Software Architecture governance and ensure alignment with requirements and best practices.
• Define KPIs and OKRs to drive efficiency and improvements across architecture.
• Influence cross-functional partners to align on priorities, decisions, and standards.
• Resolve competing demands and conflicts while maintaining momentum toward outcomes.
• Navigate ambiguity, assign ownership, and push for execution.
• Champion continuous learning and skill development in Software Architecture.
