Job summary

HighLevel is seeking a Lead Product Designer, Design Systems to shape a scalable design system that powers AI-assisted product experiences across teams. You will lead system strategy, governance and cross-functional collaboration with design, engineering and product partners in a remote-first setup.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, a strong system-level portfolio, and advanced visual and interaction design skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant product design experience, including building or leading a multi-team design system.
• An exceptionally strong portfolio with at least one system-level case study covering role, architecture, governance and measurable impact.
• Advanced visual and interaction design craft, with strong care for hierarchy, layout, typography, grids, spacing, motion, usability and accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and execution for one or more areas of the design system, grounded in product needs and data.
• Define and evolve visual foundations, including tokens, theming, color, typography, spacing, iconography and motion.
• Design and refine components and patterns, including anatomy, states, variants, responsive behavior and edge cases.
• Create primitives, templates and starter kits for AI-assisted builds within the system.
• Encode rules as documentation and guidance for AI coding tools to follow.
• Partner with front-end engineers on token architecture and APIs, ensuring sync between design and code.
• Shape governance models for system growth and versioning.
• Guide product teams onto the system and learn from its usage to improve it.
• Drive innovation by staying ahead of trends in design and technology.
• Set usability, accessibility and visual consistency standards, mentoring through critiques.
• Collaborate across US, UK and India time zones in a 100% remote environment.
