Job summary

Tempus AI in Chicago seeks a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a small team of data engineers and data architects, owning the enterprise data model and the reliability of the data it represents.

You will design how clinical records, genomics, the NGS laboratory, and radiology data are integrated, and you will ensure that the data are accurate, traceable, and suitable for critical applications such as machine learning and clinical decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a data engineering team and guiding design in a fast-paced environment.
• Expertise in the modern data stack with enterprise data warehouses and AI tooling.
• Experience with healthcare data standards such as FHIR and OMOP.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small team of data engineers and data architects.
• Own and evolve the enterprise data model with cross-functional partners.
• Design data integration for clinical, genomics, NGS, and radiology data.
• Implement quality gates, data quality standards, and observability.
• Advance AI-assisted development to accelerate modeling, testing, and pipelines.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate requirements into tasks.
