Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Principal Product Manager for the Communications Platform to lead a greenfield initiative and set the long‑term vision for how customer communications are delivered across products. You will work with Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and product leaders to create scalable platform capabilities and governance that support multiple channels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 7+ years of product management experience building software products.
• Experience leading platform, infrastructure, or developer platform products.
• Experience partnering with engineering teams to define APIs, platform capabilities, or distributed systems.
• Experience leading cross-functional product initiatives from strategy through delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Upstart’s Communications Platform.
• Partner with engineering to build shared platform capabilities and data models.
• Establish scalable platform abstractions enabling efficient delivery by product teams.
• Drive alignment across engineering, growth, servicing, banking, compliance, risk, and other teams.
• Develop platform capabilities to improve regulatory compliance, auditability, and visibility.
• Define success metrics and use data to continually improve platform adoption and impact.
• Evaluate external technologies and partnerships to extend platform capabilities.
