Upstart is seeking a Principal Product Manager for a greenfield Communications Platform initiative. You will lead the strategy, API design, governance, and platform abstractions to enable scalable customer interactions within a fintech marketplace.

This role emphasizes collaboration with engineering, strong governance, and alignment with Compliance and Risk, shaping a foundational platform used by multiple product teams.

Qualifications

• Experience building platform, infrastructure, or developer products.
• Ability to partner with engineering to define APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience in highly regulated industries like fintech.
• Ability to influence executive stakeholders across multiple business lines.

Responsibilities

• Own platform strategy and roadmap for the communications platform.
• Define APIs and delivery infrastructure in collaboration with engineering.
• Establish governance controls and data models for the platform.
• Create platform abstractions to reduce duplicated engineering effort.
