Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Principal Product Manager for the Capital Platform to own strategy and execution for complex, high-impact spaces. You will be a senior IC collaborating with engineering, finance, and compliance to deliver enterprise-grade platform capabilities that serve banks, credit unions, and investors across products.

The role emphasizes multi-quarter initiatives, scalable architecture, and close partnership with engineering to evolve capital platform systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product management experience or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience leading initiatives at a Principal/Staff level IC
• Proven track record designing and shipping platforms or shared systems
• Experience with complex B2B or B2B2C workflows (onboarding, configuration, payments, compliance, reporting)
• Ability to operate in regulated, high-reliability environments
• Strong technical fluency and collaboration with engineering on architecture decisions
• Ability to drive alignment across multiple teams without formal authority
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in technical/analytical/business field

Responsibilities

• Own strategy, roadmap, and execution for a major Capital Platform space with material business impact
• Lead multi-quarter, cross-team initiatives requiring deep systems thinking
• Design scalable, configurable platform capabilities for diverse capital partners
• Partner with engineering to define architecture and long-term evolution of platform systems
• Influence adjacent teams to meet capital partner needs across products
• Use data and domain knowledge to make high-conviction product decisions
• Deliver durable enterprise-grade solutions meeting reliability and compliance requirements
