Job summary

U.S. News & World Report is seeking an analytics leader to own the data strategy for health benchmarking and licensed data products. You will lead a team of data scientists and analysts to deliver client-facing dashboards and insights, interfacing with product and sales to align outcomes with market needs.

The role focuses on market-facing analytics, prioritizing data assets, and driving AI/ML solutions across healthcare markets, with a strong emphasis on customer value and methodology integrity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in healthcare analytics or client-facing data roles, ideally supporting data products.
• Experience at a healthcare benchmarking, analytics, consulting, or data-licensing company.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
• Strong SQL and BI tool fluency; comfortable owning dashboards and data pipelines for commercial products.
• Experience translating complex data into client-ready deliverables—reports, presentations, self-service tools.
• Track record supporting sales, business development, or client success teams under time pressure.
• Team leadership experience managing data scientists and analysts.
• Experience with healthcare quality measurement concepts (risk adjustment, benchmarking, percentile rankings).
• Experience building or scaling a licensed data product from early-stage to broad commercial adoption.
• Familiarity with hospital sales cycles and how health-system data/quality departments evaluate benchmarking tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the analytics behind licensed data products, benchmarking tools, and client-facing dashboards.
• Translate outputs and data sets into client-facing metrics that are intuitive and accurate.
• Partner with Product Management to scope analytics-driven offerings based on client demand and market gaps.
• Define new analytics use cases for data outside the rankings pipeline.
• Identify and prioritize data assets worth acquiring or partnering for; build the business case.
• Own data pipeline requirements and prioritization for the engineering team.
• Evaluate vendor and data-partnership options with legal/compliance and product teams.
• Track data investments for usage, client value, and revenue; adjust priorities as needed.
• Lead development of AI/ML data solutions across healthcare markets and justify against non-AI options.
• Track competitive AI usage in healthcare benchmarking and provide leadership recommendations.
