Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer seeks a Director of AI Strategy & Adoption to integrate AI into water-project design, delivery and operations. Lead a cross-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to build strategic AI solutions, governing adoption and turning pilots into daily practice across practices and functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, data science or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of technology, data or digital leadership experience, including enterprise AI programs.
• Proven ability to drive adoption at scale in a large professional workforce.
• Working knowledge of generative AI, LLMs, agents, retrieval methods and enterprise AI platforms.
• Experience with AI governance, data security and responsible-use frameworks in regulated settings.
• Strong executive communication; able to explain trade-offs to Board and engineers.
• Experience hiring, leading and developing technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Strategy and roadmap: develop a multi-year AI vision aligned with firm strategy and governance.
• Adoption and change: lead firm-wide AI adoption with champions and training programs.
• Implementation and platforms: direct selection and rollout of enterprise AI tools and integrations.
• Governance, risk: refine AI policy, manage confidentiality and data-use risks.
• Team and partners: build and lead AI team, collaborate with vendors, academia and clients.
• Represent Hazen externally on AI with clients, regulators and professional bodies.
