Job summary

Vanguard in Malvern is seeking a senior technology leader to head Advice Portfolio Construction Technology, building platforms that translate client needs into investment outcomes for millions of investors.

The role combines investment domain expertise with engineering leadership, overseeing ~12 full-stack teams and a leadership bench across PA, NC, TX, with expansion into India next year. This hybrid role guides multi-year transformation and in-house capability building.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and client risk profiling.
• Familiarity with tracking-error reduction and portfolio optimization functions.
• Experience leading large application engineering organizations with cross-functional dependency.
• A CFA or comparable industry certification is a strong plus.
• Proven experience leading managers and developing senior leaders in matrix environments.
• Experience integrating or building alongside industry platforms (e.g., Aladdin, Charles River, MSCI, InvestCloud, Advisor Engine, Orion, Envestnet) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing organization of technologists across 12 full-stack teams; manage a leadership bench across multiple states.
• Drive modern engineering practices (AI-assisted development, CI/CD, observability, resiliency).
• Deliver平台d and evolve platforms that assess client risk tolerance, asset allocation, and portfolio construction.
• Advance capabilities in risk-based optimization, tracking-error reduction, and portfolio transition/optimization.
• Ensure platforms support a broad range of investment strategies and client segments across equities and fixed income.
• Act as a senior partner to investment, product, and advice leaders, translating investment concepts into scalable technology solutions.
• Shape technology strategy across advice, portfolio management, and client experience.
