Job summary

Paterson Public Schools is seeking seasonal coaches for the winter sports period. Responsibilities include coaching duties during Dec 1, 2026 – Feb 22, 2027 and meeting sport-specific safety certifications as required by district policies.

Applicants must hold NJ teaching or substitute certificates, have CPR/AED certifications, and complete required wellness trainings. The position is contingent on budget and district needs.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Teacher's Certificate or Substitute Teacher Certificate required.
• Coaching experience preferred, but not required.
• Must be available daily during the WINTER sports season.
• CPR and AED certified, with current certificates.
• Must obtain Concussion Awareness and Wellness certificate, renewed annually.
• Heat Acclimatization Awareness and Wellness certificate, renewed annually.
• One year after hire to complete Sports First Aid course.
• Budget-dependent posting; closing after ten consecutive days following posting.

Job description

Qualifications

• New Jersey Teacher's Certificate OR Substitute Teacher Certificate; proof of experience required for substitute certificate holder
• Coaching experience preferred, but not required
• Must be available daily during the WINTER sports season
• Must be certified in CPR and AED, and holding a current certificate in both
• Must obtain a "Concussion Awareness and Wellness" certificate or its equivalent, renewed annually
• Must Obtain a "Heat Acclimatization Awareness and Wellness" certificate or it's equivalent, renewed annually.
• All new coaches will have one year after being hired to successfully complete a course in "Sports First Aid".
• Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
• Pending budget availability
• All posting are open for ten (10) consecutive days following the date posted on the Paterson Public Schools website
