Job summary

Paterson Public Schools seeks a winter sports coach with active CPR/AED certification and annual renewal of concussion, heat acclimatization, and first aid training. Eligibility requires a NJ teaching or substitute certificate and willingness to complete required trainings within the first year.

Qualifications

• Heat acclimatization awareness certification, renewed annually.
• All new coaches must complete Sports First Aid within one year of hire.
• Possible alternatives may be accepted by the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Be available daily during the Winter sports season.
• Fulfill coaching duties as assigned by the district.
• Comply with district policies and safety protocols.
• Maintain valid CPR/AED and health certifications throughout the season.

Job description

Season Dates: Dec. 1, 2026 - March 8, 2027

Qualifications

• New Jersey Teacher's Certificate OR Substitute Teacher Certificate; proof of experience required for substitute certificate holder
• Coaching experience preferred, but not required
• Must be available daily during the WINTER sports season
• Must be certified in CPR and AED, and holding a current certificate in both
• Must obtain a "Concussion Awareness and Wellness" certificate or its equivalent, renewed annually
• Must Obtain a "Heat Acclimatization Awareness and Wellness" certificate or its equivalent, renewed annually.
• All new coaches will have one year after being hired to successfully complete a course in "Sports First Aid".
• Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
• Pending budget availability
