Job summary

EL Bar at Pier 57 in New York is seeking a dynamic Head/Lead Bartender who loves tequila and mezcal. You will lead cocktail development, curate premium tequilas/mezcals, train staff, and drive guest engagement and sales, while maintaining City Winery standards.

Join a waterfront setting with planning for events and promotions, sharing the stories behind each spirit, and delivering exceptional service to guests across the bar and dining areas.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of tequila and mezcal, including flavor profiles.
• Previous experience as a sommelier or spirits expert.
• Strong presentation and storytelling abilities.
• Certification in spirits or sommelier qualifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a captivating selection of tequilas and mezcals.
• Craft and refine innovative cocktail recipes showcasing our offerings.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new product releases.
• Ensure inventory/ordering is efficient and submitted on time.
• Interact with guests, take orders, serve food and beverage, handle transactions.
• Prepare and serve beverages to City Winery standards.
• Upsell and drive promotions, events, and brand initiatives.
• Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate cash drawer.
• Adhere to cash handling procedures.
• Serve wine, beer and liquor in proper proportions and glassware.

If you’re passionate about tequila and mezcal, and have a talent for crafting exceptional cocktails and sharing the rich stories behind every spirit, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Overview of Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a captivating selection of tequilas and mezcals, ensuring a diverse and premium offering that will set EL Bar apart.


• Craft and refine innovative cocktail recipes that showcase the essence of our bar’s offerings and the spirit of Pier 57.


• Keep our selection fresh and exciting by staying updated on industry trends and new product releases.


• Ensuring all inventory/ordering is done efficiently and submitted on time


• Interact with guests, take orders, serve food and beverage, handle transactions, and support guest service needs from beginning to end


• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for patrons within standards of City Winery


• Upsell, increase check average, compete in sales incentives, drive marketing promotions & special events, and promote the City Winery brand


• Handle payment transactions and maintain accurate cash drawer


• Adhere to and abide by cash handling procedures as per Company standards


• Serve wine, beer and liquor in proper proportions and glassware and charging proper prices for beverages


• Ad hoc duties as assigned

Your Strengths & Qualifications:

• A deep knowledge of tequila and mezcal, including production processes, regions, and flavor profiles.


• Previous experience as a sommelier, spirits expert, or in a similar role.


• Strong presentation and public speaking abilities, with a flair for storytelling.


• A genuine passion for educating others and sharing the cultural significance of tequila and mezcal.


• Certification in spirits or sommelier qualifications is a plus.
