Job summary

EL Bar – Tequila & Mezcal Bar, a subsidiary of City Winery, opens at Pier 57 in New York. We seek a Head/Lead Bartender who crafts standout cocktails and shares the rich stories behind each spirit.

Responsibilities include developing a premium tequila/mezcal program, creating innovative cocktails, managing inventory, and driving guest experiences while promoting City Winery branding through events.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of tequila and mezcal, including production, regions, and flavor profiles.
• Previous experience as a sommelier or spirits expert.
• Strong presentation and public speaking abilities with storytelling flair.
• Passion for educating others and sharing cultural significance of tequila and mezcal.
• Certification in spirits or sommelier qualifications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a premium selection of tequilas and mezcals.
• Craft and refine innovative cocktail recipes that showcase the bar's offerings.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new product releases.
• Ensure inventory/ordering is done efficiently and submitted on time.
• Interact with guests, take orders, serve food and beverages, and handle transactions.
• Prepare and serve beverages within City Winery standards.
• Upsell and drive marketing promotions & events to promote City Winery.
• Handle payment transactions and maintain an accurate cash drawer.
• Adhere to cash handling procedures as per company standards.
• Serve wine, beer and liquor in proper proportions and glassware.
• Ad hoc duties as assigned.

Overview of Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a captivating selection of tequilas and mezcals, ensuring a diverse and premium offering that will set EL Bar apart.


• Craft and refine innovative cocktail recipes that showcase the essence of our bar’s offerings and the spirit of Pier 57.


• Keep our selection fresh and exciting by staying updated on industry trends and new product releases.


• Ensuring all inventory/ordering is done efficiently and submitted on time


• Interact with guests, take orders, serve food and beverage, handle transactions, and support guest service needs from beginning to end


• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for patrons within standards of City Winery


• Upsell, increase check average, compete in sales incentives, drive marketing promotions & special events, and promote the City Winery brand


• Handle payment transactions and maintain accurate cash drawer


• Adhere to and abide by cash handling procedures as per Company standards


• Serve wine, beer and liquor in proper proportions and glassware and charging proper prices for beverages


• Ad hoc duties as assigned

Your Strengths & Qualifications:

• A deep knowledge of tequila and mezcal, including production processes, regions, and flavor profiles.


• Previous experience as a sommelier, spirits expert, or in a similar role.


• Strong presentation and public speaking abilities, with a flair for storytelling.


• A genuine passion for educating others and sharing the cultural significance of tequila and mezcal.


• Certification in spirits or sommelier qualifications is a plus.
