Job summary

Republic Services in Syracuse, NY, seeks a HazMat Field Driver/Technician to transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste to generator sites. You will operate various tractors and trailers, perform pre/post inspections, and ensure compliance with DOT hazmat rules.

This role may include overnight shifts and occasional weekends, with most holidays off. The position requires a Class A CDL with HazMat and tanker endorsements (or ability to obtain within 90 days) and completion of a 40-hour HAZWOPER

Qualifications

• A valid class A CDL with hazardous material and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain them within 90 days of hire.
• Pass a 40-hour HAZWOPER training course upon hire.
• MVR must meet company standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate trucks including roll-offs, tankers, tractors, and box trucks for pickups.
• Perform LTL (less-than-load) pickups and secure loads per DOT rules.
• Maintain driver logs, permits, trip reports, and waste manifests.
• Understand and apply DOT hazmat regulations in loading, labeling, and segregation.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and communicate with customers.
• Support site safety programs and assist in lab pack and field service projects.
