Job summary

Grace Federal Solutions seeks a Safety Technician in Durham, North Carolina to manage hazardous waste from university and hospital facilities, including clinics and labs. The role covers collection, segregation, and regulatory compliance under OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, and RCRA requirements.

You will handle hazardous chemical, pharmaceutical, radiological, and universal wastes, work with protective gear, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to hazardous material management.
• Basic knowledge of chemistry and related sciences.
• Understanding of chemical properties to segregate waste for shipping or treatment.
• Ability to access data, maintain records, and generate reports using computer systems.
• Functional oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect, segregate, and manage hazardous wastes at university/hospital facilities.
• Collect and manage hazardous pharmaceutical, radiological, universal, and other waste streams.
• Comply with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, and RCRA requirements.
• Communicate policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Safely handle containers and materials; lift up to 50 lbs and manage 400 lb drums.
• Work in diverse environments including IDLH atmospheres and require protective gear.
