Job summary

Republic Services is hiring a Chemical Processing Operator I in Vernon, CA to handle and package hazardous materials in full compliance with safety and environmental rules. You will work with TSDF technicians in warehouses, plants and outdoor settings, ensuring proper labeling, packaging and shipping documentation.

The role requires up to 2 years of related experience, 40-hour HAZWOPER training, and the ability to use PPE including respirators.

Qualifications

• Must pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.
• 0–2 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to wear and safely use PPE, including respirators.
• Knowledge of DOT, EPA and OSHA regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle, classify, segregate, label and package hazardous and non-hazardous materials per regulations.
• Segregate chemicals by compatibility and DOT Hazard class.
• Determine safe packing/consolidation of chemicals.
• Consolidate hazardous materials/waste; bulking and repackaging safely.
• Prepare shipping documents and coordinate transport of chemical products.
• Approve packing slips, create inventories, QA/QC and waste tracking documents.
• Mentor new hires on SOPs and provide initial training.
