Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Chemical Processing Operator I in Vernon, CA to handle, classify, and package hazardous and non-hazardous materials in full compliance with safety regulations. You will collaborate with TSDF technicians in warehouses, plants, and outdoor settings.

The role requires accuracy, adherence to DOT/EPA/OSHA standards, and the ability to mentor new hires while supporting waste tracking and documentation processes.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon hire.
• Knowledge of DOT, EPA and OSHA regulations preferred.
• Ability to wear and safely use PPE including respirators.
• Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple, diverse responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Handle, classify, segregate, label, and package hazardous and non-hazardous materials per regulations.
• Segregate chemicals by compatibility and DOT hazard class.
• Determine safe packing/consolidation of chemicals.
• Consolidate hazardous materials/waste safely (bulking, repackaging).
• Prepare shipping documents and coordinate transportation of chemical products and waste.
• Approve packing slips, create inventories, QA/QC, and waste tracking documents.
• Mentor new-hire chemists on SOPs and provide initial training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
