Job summary

Grady Health System is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety professional to support environment of care inspections and hazardous materials management. The role involves coordinating safety training, maintaining inventories, and assisting leaders in safety policy implementation.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in environmental health or hazardous materials, and a strong commitment to patient and staff safety within a dynamic healthcare

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Health, Safety, Engineering).
  • 3+ years of professional or technical experience in hazardous waste management, environmental health, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Accompanies surveyors from regulatory and accrediting agencies during environment of care inspections.
  • Coordinates annual and semi-annual environmental tours of all patient care and non-patient care areas and maintains documentation.
  • Assists Department Heads in developing and implementing departmental safety policies.
  • Coordinates safety training of personnel at all levels and ensures trainers are knowledgeable and effective.
  • Manages hazardous materials activities and provides quarterly reports to the EOC Committee.
  • Maintains Hazardous Materials Inventory and ensures appropriate posting of hazardous areas and equipment.

If you want to make a difference, we want to hear from you.Job SummaryAccompanies surveyors from regulatory and accrediting agencies during environment of care inspections.Conducts or coordinates annual and semi-annual environmental tours of all patient care and non-patient care areas and maintains the appropriate documentation.Assists Department Heads in developing and implementing departmental specific safety policies.Provides updates on the latest developments in activities that relate to the job, such as new safety equipment, hazardous materials that might be utilized in the hospital, and changes in laws and/or regulations, etc.Coordinates the safety training of personnel at all levels. Ensures that instructors training employees in safety related activities are knowledgeable in subjects being presented and the training is accomplished as planned.Coordinates the hazardous materials activities for GHS and provides quarterly reports to the EOC Committee. Ensures that hazardous areas, entrances, and exits, and dangerous equipment are posted in accordance with prescribed standards.Assists in compliance with Joint Commission Accreditation standards.Maintains a complete listing of Hazardous Materials Inventory for each department.Bachelor's Degree3+ years of experience in professional or technical experience in hazardous waste management, environmental health, engineering or a closely related field.Core CompetenciesThese competencies reflect the values and behaviors expected of all Grady team members, regardless of role.
