Job summary

Grady Health System in Atlanta, GA is seeking a safety-focused environmental health professional to join our team. You will accompany surveyors, coordinate inspections, assist department heads in safety policy development, and manage hazardous materials programs to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years' experience in hazardous waste management, environmental health, or related field.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Accompanies surveyors from regulatory and accrediting agencies during inspections.
• Coordinates annual and semi-annual environmental tours of all areas and maintains documentation.
• Assists in developing and implementing department safety policies.
• Provides updates on new safety developments, equipment, hazardous materials, and regulatory changes.
• Coordinates safety training of personnel at all levels and ensures instructors are knowledgeable and trained.
• Coordinates hazardous materials activities and provides quarterly reports to the EOC Committee, posting hazardous areas and equipment.
• Assists in compliance with Joint Commission standards.
• Maintains a complete Hazardous Materials Inventory for each department.

Job Summary

• Accompanies surveyors from regulatory and accrediting agencies during environment of care inspections.
• Conducts or coordinates annual and semi-annual environmental tours of all patient care and non-patient care areas and maintains the appropriate documentation.
• Assists Department Heads in developing and implementing departmental specific safety policies.
• Provides updates on the latest developments in activities that relate to the job, such as new safety equipment, hazardous materials that might be utilized in the hospital, and changes in laws and/or regulations, etc.
• Coordinates the safety training of personnel at all levels. Ensures that instructors training employees in safety related activities are knowledgeable in subjects being presented and the training is accomplished as planned.
• Coordinates the hazardous materials activities for GHS and provides quarterly reports to the EOC Committee. Ensures that hazardous areas, entrances, and exits, and dangerous equipment are posted in accordance with prescribed standards.
• Assists in compliance with Joint Commission Accreditation standards.
• Maintains a complete listing of Hazardous Materials Inventory for each department.

• Bachelor's Degree
