Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field required.
• Certification for Hazardous Materials Emergency First Response or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager required.
• One year in environmental health and safety issues required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe acquisition, storage, use and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Advise on compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Develop and review policies for all programs using chemicals or hazardous materials.
• Provide staff training on safety and regulatory requirements.
• Inspect laboratories and storage areas and audit operations for safety.
• Coordinate emergency procedures for spills and on-site treatment.
• Maintain Right To Know and MSDS records and related training data.
• Partner with campus services to select disposal methods minimizing liability.
