Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a Fire Chief to oversee the Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) program in support of the U.S. Navy at Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kaua'i, Hawai'i.

The role reports to the Security and Emergency Services Manager and leads a 24/7 firefighting team, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and DoD directives. The Chief will develop training, OSH, and prevention programs, manage resources and budgets, and liaise with military and civilian stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Driver's license required.
• Professional Certifications: Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor II, NFPA 1582 medical requirements.
• HazMat - Incident Command knowledge required.
• At least 15 years in a full-time fire department; 8 years as supervisor/chief; 4 years in lead position; ARFF experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage personnel across a 24-hour rotating shift.
• Administer disciplinary actions as needed.
• Inspect and maintain fire apparatus and equipment.
• Develop and sustain fire prevention and education programs.
• Lead F&ES training and OSH programs.
• Deploy and manage emergency service teams for diverse incidents.
• Maintain a self-inspection program for compliance.
• Prepare operating procedures, risk assessments, and plans.
