Job summary

Mercury Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer – Hardware Design/Board Designer to architect ruggedized circuit boards and lead end-to-end development of embedded computing, high-speed digital systems, secure processing, and FPGA-based hardware. You will drive architecture decisions and verification in collaboration with multiple sites and disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 6+ years of board-level hardware design experience from concept through production.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces such as 400G+ Ethernet, PCIe Gen5+, and DDR5+.
• Strong understanding of signal integrity for high-speed digital designs.
• Experience using schematic capture tools and collaborating with CAD/SI teams on layout/bring-up/verification.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead board-level design and development of complex digital circuits, modules, and embedded systems from concept through production.
• Architect advanced electrical circuit boards with secure processing, storage, networking, FPGA tech, and high-speed interfaces.
• Develop high-speed digital boards including 400G+ Ethernet, PCIe Gen5+, and DDR5+ interconnects.
• Establish engineering best practices, design guidelines, and verification processes for high reliability hardware.
• Contribute architectures, cost and schedule estimates, and Basis of Estimate (BOE) input for proposals.
• Drive DFM/DFA/DFT initiatives and collaborate with manufacturing to resolve board build issues.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure robust hardware solutions across lifecycles.
