Job summary

City of Baltimore seeks Community Aides to support the Harbormaster Office in docking operations at Inner Harbor, Fell’s Point, and Canton Waterfront Park, coordinating vessel docking and ensuring safe, smooth traffic flow in Baltimore Harbor.

Responsibilities include managing reservations, collecting docking fees, guiding visitors, and delivering world‑class customer service while promoting dock availability to residents and tourists.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED; undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Experience: 6 months of organized, detail‑oriented work with strong communication and multitasking.
  • Licenses: Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Observe maritime safety protocols and wear issued safety equipment.
  • Manage online reservation system including arrivals and departures.
  • Answer phone and email inquiries.
  • Answer complaints and resolve problems for the boating public.
  • Promote the City’s dock availability to residents and tourists.
  • Maintain fee records and monthly utilization reports.
  • Operate and maintain a 17’ Boston Whaler Montauk and VHF Radio.
  • Other duties as assigned.
